Articling Students:
We have hired 4 articling students for 2007. We plan on hiring 1-2 articling
students for 2008. The deadline for applications for 2008 articling positions
will be May 11, 2007. Interviews will be conducted in Saskatoon.
Summer Students:
We will not be considering any applications for the summer of 2007.
In interviewing candidates for employment at Balfour Moss LLP, we look for
intelligent, motivated self-starters. Although academic qualifications play a
large role in evaluating candidates, we also look for integrity and
personality. Above all, we look for people we hope will be with our firm for
many years.
As a crucial element in developing and fostering the ability to manage files
independently, we believe in the importance of an "open door" policy at Balfour
Moss LLP. We encourage our students to take advantage of the collective experience
of the firm by discussing their concerns and seeking assistance from colleagues,
partners and administrative staff.
Articling students at Balfour Moss LLP can expect to receive a well-rounded set of
articles together with meaningful feedback during the articling period. Each
student will work with not only his/her principal, but also the other partners
and associates at Balfour Moss LLP. On a number of occasions we have arranged for
students to spend a portion of their articling year with the Crown Prosecutors
Office or clerking with the Courts. Articling students who are hired as lawyers
following their articles will continue to receive a wide variety of work in
many practice areas. Click the following links for detailed descriptions of
Noah Evanchuk's articling experience
(he completed his articles with Balfour Moss in 2005) and
Jocelyn Hoehn's articling experience
(she completed her articles with Balfour Moss in 2004). Details about
Balfour Moss LLP and our articling program are set out in the
annual articling forum survey.
Balfour Moss LLP holds a number of social events throughout the year, both formal
and informal, including barbeques, wine & cheese socials, a children's
Christmas party, and a formal Christmas party. Spouses and families are invited
to many of these events. Our creative and enthusiastic Social Committee has
also committed us to bowling, billiards tournaments, curling bonspiels and
softball games. Other less athletic events include informal "TGIF"
gatherings at one of the local establishments.
The firm offers competitive salaries together with a benefit package which
includes life insurance, and medical and dental coverage.
All applicants should provide a resume and cover letter. Applicants for
articling and summer student positions should also submit their academic
transcripts from law school and any previous university education. Applications
